OCMS PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
OCMS PTA has kicked off their 2005-2006 school year membership
drive. Membership cost $8
per individual and $15 per family. OCMS PTA's goal this year is to achieve
100% PTA
membership, which is at least one membership for each student and teacher.
We are lagging
behind our goal significantly with only 197 members out of the 1,200
desired.
Please support the PTA by sending in your membership and attempt to get
other members in
your community, work place, and place of worship to join. Anyone can join a
local PTA. You
do not have to have a child in the school.
Throughout the month of September and October drawings will be held and
prizes such as an
IPOD Shuffle and
gift certificates will be given away to students who have had
someone join on
their behalf. Additionally, the homeroom class,
for each grade level, that gets 100%
membership first will be thrown a skating party.
To join, complete the attached form and return it along with your membership
fee in an
envelope marked "OCMS PTA Membership."

To support our school, the PTA has several committees and
volunteer opportunities available to
you. Volunteer participation is essential at OCMS. Any extra time you have
to volunteer is
truly appreciated by the staff, teachers, and most importantly students.
Below is a list of many of the volunteer activities available with the PTA.
You can volunteer
to serve on any committee at any time by contacting Donya Douglas, the PTA

In the spirit of Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) the PTA plans to
create a directory of
businesses owned and/or operated by OCMS parents and community members. PTA
members
can list their business for free.
Please send an email to
dmdouglas@verizon.net with "Business Guide" in the subject with the
following information in the body:
- Business Name
- Point of Contact
- Address/Location
- Email Address or Web Address (if available)
- Phone Number
- Description of Services Offered (not to exceed 100 characters)
